Just rewinding
the past days of Science experience, sharing my experience with students, leave
your comments, update your experience if you are working in Science companies
now and trending products and features.

When I am working in 1994 Ciba ( present
Syngenta), along with weed- cides, company released one pesticide name Curacron
( Propecanzole), this is one of the pesticide which control, cotton pest at
the stage of egg hatching stage, these technical pesticide rotten the eggs with
-out hatching in to larva, because pests/ diseases went out of control with-
out rain, after the later stage of crops, the main challenge to the companies
are drought/less rain, existing in business become hard, down sizing employees
numbers, merging companies are started because they revoke/reduce common
products.
When we
suggest a product name for a technical in annual meetings or company meetings to
company by employees ( only name) it
will take by all opinion, if selected to the technical we get extra payment
from company, this money helps to buy cameras, lenses, some thing for passion,
but Companies can’t not give any importance to the Physics knowledge at that
time.
Even DuPont
released on product lanet in to powder format the main reason of powder
format was to reduce the usage of water tanks by the farmer, easy to use multiple
times, and this product is a very effective on commercial crops but the weakness
of this product was it come out side with foam, farmers think it’s leaking.
But no
company got a thought of Climate Change, because Physics is not even get clue
by any one at that time. All companies are introducing products based to water
saving, controlling pests and diseases in early stage. Later companies
discovered another problem using pesticides
in early
stage leads to plants with nutrient deficiencies, that’s how the micro nutrient
companies born.
Why before
products haven’t introduced to control on early stage? The main reason not to introduce pesticides in early stage to
control was the farmers are not generally ready to spend money along with
spending for fertilizers, expenses for cultivation preparation, some- times it effects to growth of the plant.
But after severe
drought and elnino’s all companies are forced to change their products and down-
sizing the companies, employees, it is a challenge to promote the products to
use early stage, no one can convenient to use on early stage.
The
advantage of Bayer at that time, they are big presence in the market with wide
range of products, but they don’t prefer high experienced or Intellectual
employees because of few reasons, the products are moving easily with company name
so they don’t need these employees, and they need more employees in each area
so they started to give less salaries and more staff, some small reason in
corporate culture is they protect their job security.
Hileothis on
cotton is one of the major pest, we got two species major in heliothis on
cotton crop ( Heliothis, Helicoverpa) all over the world which companies do research
and introduce products, when a pest like Heliothis got different stages of it’s
life cycle it is very difficult to control, because it will adopt in different
forms, host in different plants, once it reaches to final stage it spread huge
other areas, generally farmers call this pests are bole warms.
These pests got
favor to drought conditions, because in drought conditions early morning
temperatures changes, when in high temperature the apatite condition increase,
bole warms enter in to the cotton boles for cool and start to consume the
tender content of cotton boles, water due on crops are doesn’t happen, when
there is no cool temperature in mornings all eggs hatch with- out failure.
When I am in
this field I used to visit in early mornings for research to the crops as personal interest,
because these eggs lay on top/bottom of the leaves we can identify and take pic’s
on early mornings and can study later, after sun rise our eyes can’t catch
these eggs easily, the leaves get fold,
I am not going to in-depth on this like number of varieties on cotton
and egg numbers like that, simply I can say depend on variety also we can find
the number of eggs on leaves.
If you see
the heliothis eggs on leaves they are white color oval shaped, if the pesticide
sprayed it will turns in to rotten with- out hatching. But like this control is
effective 10 to 15% only because some- times pesticide doesn’t contact the egg
or it doesn’t stay on leaves.
These products are big turnover to the
companies and profits, but fell under research to change the products to
control on early stage also because of drought, cotton is one of the major
commercial crop which give income to the farmer and high investment crop also.
Companies
are ready to do hybrid varieties on commercial crops because creating hybrids
is a easy to the Scientists, or making pesticides also a area of research to
the MNC companies, but If you say Climate Change, even top IQ scientists also
scare to think as nuts. If you can feel our planet as your watch, it is
possible to you.
To day
Climate Change for our planet, for our famers, our food but most of the Agro
Chemical companies from USA, Germany, Swiss are getting benefit to release good
pesticides these countries spend billions of dollars on research and
development because Agriculture exist all over the world, farmers improving life’s,
giving jobs to the millions of people all over the world from Scientists, Science
Graduates, Management professionals, Admin staff and Office staff.
